LOW KEY, HIGH ELEVATION.

It all started at an aid station…

From volunteering in exchange for free race entries to owner and operator, Kristen Hollum is proud to call Red Lodge Events her own. After six years of learning the ropes, Krsiten took ownership in December of 2019 and has created new races, added a breath of fresh air to old races in hopes of etching out a spot for a no-frills event company getting down to business putting on great events.

The motto is: ‘Low key, high elevation’ and we mean it. Our race atmosphere is always approachable and laid back -whether you’re a seasoned runner with a competitive edge, running your first 5k, or just love to chat with friends on the trails. The courses, on the other hand, always pose a challenge with an epic view in the heart of the Beartooth's. Our races prioritize the following:

No Frills.

If you’re looking for finisher medals, look elsewhere. We’re taking races back to their roots and creating a space to share in the simple joy of moving our bodies in our wild backyard. What we lack in frills we make up in fun! Oh, and we pass the savings onto you!

Welcoming Start Lines.

Nothing is worse than feeling alone on crowded starting line. If you come a stranger, you’ll certainly leave a friend. Do we have fast people in short shorts? Absolutely. Do we have walkers? Absolutely. All ages and abilities are welcome. Feeling nervous? Have questions? Need special accomodations? Reach out or look for the girl in the party shirt!

Epic Snack Tables.

Craving sweet? What about savory? We got you. We take pride in the abundance of offerings at our snack tables where there is something for every taste bud and diet. Rest assured you won’t go hungry at our races. We even offer snacks and beverages for spectators.

Have a favorite race snack? We take requests!

Affordable.

We know what its like when you’re excited to race but your bank account isn’t. We aim to keep our races affordable with deep discounts on early bird registrations, flat rate kids pricing, multi-race discounts, and refunds if you can convince 5 friends to sign up. And, honoring our beginnings, discounted and free race entries for volunteering!

Quality not quantity.

Racing in rural Montana is just different. While we don’t offer a 5k every weekend, you’ll want to mark your calednars and get your PTO requests in because our races are worth the trip. Being a bit off the beaten path means our races are intimate, inviting and friendly. You won’t just be a bib number -our goal is to have a personal interaction with every runner.

Building Community.

Whether we’re recognizing young runners for big accomplishments, hosting free events, going on group runs, lending a hand on trail building days, or supporting the local economies that we race in, we want to build a strong community of people who getting outside. In 2021, with the help of participant donations, we gave $6,428 back to local causes and our on our way to $5,000 this year!
