In Memory of Casey Gruber

Red Lodge Randonnee was Casey’s idea. He asked us each year to put one on until we finally caved, with one caveat -that he be there every step of the way to help. And boy was he! Casey spent countless hours scoping routes, drafting proposals to the ski area, cutting out shrubs in the way of his boot pack, and infamously marking course no matter how many degrees below zero it was.

Casey leaves a legacy so much bigger than helping put on a skimo race. If you crossed paths with him, you saw first hand why he was so loved by so many diverse pockets of our community and why we were so lucky for his dedicated involvement with Red Lodge Events.

One thing about Casey is he showed up. No matter the day, the weather, the person, if he was tired or whatever else has had going on. He showed up. And that is what we’re going to do in his honor. Every day, even when we don’t want to, we’re going to show up for ourselves, for our loved ones, and for our community, just like he did. And we hope you will do the same.

Our continued love and healing energy goes out to his wonderful family and all the folks near and far whose lives were a little bit brighter (and certainly more adventurous) because of his presence.

We hope you’ll join us in supporting Not One More Vet in Casey’s honor. Not One More Vet provides vital education, unwavering support, and essential resources, creating a sanctuary where those who care for animals can find the care they need themselves. Together, we are transforming the landscape of veterinary medicine and veterinary mental health, ensuring that no vet feels alone.
